1903
Harry Watson & his wife, Ada May, started farming & collecting in Lovalls Farm, Lower Chase Road.

1913
1916
The Watson family moved to Jervis Court and continued farming and added a haulage side to the business along with delivering milk & coal to the village.

Circa 1920
In those days, a postcard was sent to Harry if there was a dead or dying animal and he, or his worker, would then collect it in a horse & cart. When the phone line was added, the number was 21.
This was when men would queue up, hoping to be called to work if someone hadn’t turned up.

Here is Harry Watson at the local market.

Sadly, Harry Watson was killed while out collecting in a vehicle accident just past Bow Lake and the company was passed to his son Jack and 4 grandsons and JH Watson and Sons Ltd was formed.
1977
At the age of 17 Robert became the proud owner of his first collecting vehicle, along with his precious assistant Sue the dog.

1978
1990 – The fleet of lorries had increased

2004
Jack resigned from the company due to ill health.
2013
David retired from the company to continue his own work. Sadly Bryan took a step back from the company due to his ill health, leaving Robert and Michael to run the company.

2019/2021
Michael started working for a new company, so it seemed a good time for change. The fleet of iconic red lorries were retired and new trucks and trailers arrived. We decided that JH Watson and Sons Ltd would specialise in collecting equines only. We also moved to new premises at Pavilion Park Farm.
